Now, I want to share some exciting changes in my work and services. I also want to share what brought them about in hopes it will inspire you. If you’re building a business around your writing skill or want to be a full-time writer, you’re going to want to hear this.

I’ll try to keep it quick (though I do plan on writing a special report where I share my story – timelines, contracts, mindsets, spirituality, and yes, even money).

Why?? Because I want to CANCEL and DELETE the voice in your head that says you can’t pay your bills with writing. If you want to and you work at it, you CAN.

Now, here’s what’s been going on with me.

I recently signed a major contract to write a memoir for a client. In addition, I’m writing a book proposal and coaching them through the agenting process. This is going so well, I can’t wait to share more. I’m also writing my own book.

These changes have made me reevaluate my coaching work. I’ve questioned whether I want to continue. I prayed about it for many days. It tested my values and my mission to help other writers on their creative and career journeys.

I thought long and hard about everything I went through, about how I struggled with 25 years of writer’s block so deep and profound that I didn’t even know I was a writer. That’s 25 years of words wasted.

Twenty-five years when I wasn’t truly being myself.

I thought about my first tiny steps as a writer, my first writing class, my first publications. I remembered how I searched for my niche – for what kind of writer I wanted to be and if I actually wanted it to pay the bills. And if so, how would I make that happen?

My heart filled with tender gratitude for all the beautiful support and mentors that have come to me exactly when I needed them.

I thought about how I invested in myself whenever I could, about every stepping stone and every crazy decision that brought me to where I am now and where I want to go next.

Most of all, I thought about how I felt all those years before I began my journey. Now that I’ve become a full-time writer with things like an entertainment attorney (!), I realize that it was never my true purpose.

Rather it has always been a journey of self-love, radical authenticity, and empowerment against all odds. This is my message.

If you know anything about my story, you know that I struggled with profound obstacles such as chronic depression, severe child abuse and abandonment, and other types of trauma. I occasionally write about trauma on Facebook, Instagram and here on my blog . . . and I’ll share quite a bit more on upcoming projects such as my forthcoming MOTH story.

I share these things because I don’t want anyone to experience what I had to experience to get to where I am now. I also want people to know that they’re not alone.

Your resistance might not involve a high level of trauma or a deep-seated story about who you are and what you can do. Maybe it’s more practical or temporary in nature. I want to help with this, too.

I think we have too much information, when what we need is more truth.

I also know that writers need more than craft, competition and critique to succeed.

And I know that every single one of us carries a guidance system and creative radar that is the soul of our work.

This is what my coaching and teaching work is about.

So far, I’ve coached and taught hundreds of people from all over the world, privately and on the university level. I’m going to continue this work, but with some changes that reflect my new clarity.

These changes include what I’m calling myself these days.

In addition, I’ve had to discontinue the monthly coaching session giveaway because I didn’t feel it provided me the opportunity to serve as many people as I’d like with the little time I have.

I have so much more to share, so please keep a lookout for some very special resources and articles coming your way.
